Glamping in Calabria: Costa degli Dei, Sila and the Ionian Coast in 2026
Calabria is one of Italy's fastest-growing — and least crowded — regions for glamping, stretching from the glittering coves of the Costa degli Dei to the cool highland lakes of Sila National Park. It remains one of the less saturated areas covered in our roundup of the best glamping destinations in Europe, with 2026 prices ranging from €90 to over €350 a night depending on area and season.
The best areas for glamping in Calabria
Three areas stand out: the Costa degli Dei around Tropea, Sila National Park up in the highlands, and the Ionian coast between Soverato and Riace — each offering a very different experience, from crystal-clear sea to mountains, with prices to match.
Costa degli Dei and Capo Vaticano: Calabria's most photographed coastline
Tropea and Capo Vaticano concentrate the region's most polished — and most expensive — glamping stays, with design tents and domes overlooking one of the Tyrrhenian's most scenic stretches of coast: turquoise water, sheer cliffs and the village of Tropea perched on its promontory. This is the area with the highest prices and the busiest summer season, especially in July and August.
Sila National Park: lakes, forests and cool air
Up in the highlands, among the artificial lakes and loricate pine forests of the Sila, glamping is simpler and closer to nature — tents and small lodges often run by local families, ideal for hiking, mountain biking and a noticeably cooler climate than the coast in high summer. This is the area with the best value for money in the region.
Ionian coast: Soverato, Riace and beyond
The Ionian coast, between Soverato and Riace — the latter famous for its ancient bronze statues — offers wide, quieter beaches than the Tyrrhenian side, at lower prices than the Costa degli Dei. It's a good base for anyone after a calmer sea and a bit of culture without paying the prices of the region's other coastline.
How much does glamping in Calabria cost?
As already noted in our guide to glamping prices in Europe, equipped tents in the Sila and the hinterland start at €90-140 a night, the Ionian coast falls between €150 and €220, while sea-view domes and lodges on the Costa degli Dei easily go above €250, up to €350 in peak season. Calabria remains one of Italy's more affordable regions for anyone not set on its best-known coastline.
When to go
June and September remain the best months on the coast: warm sea, fewer crowds and lower prices than July-August. The Sila, thanks to its cooler altitude, is a good choice even in the height of summer, when the Costa degli Dei is at its hottest and busiest. Most stays are open from May to October.
